The Temple and sacrificial system stood at the center of Israel’s covenant life in the first century. Yet many modern interpretations assume that the death of Jesus brought the entire system to an end and rendered the Temple permanently obsolete. The following studies examine the purpose of the sacrificial system, the role it played in Israel’s relationship with God, and how the New Testament addresses the Temple and its sacrifices.
